Founded by K-Why in the early 2000s as a collective that celebrates unity, WhyUS has been at the forefront of Montreal’s music scene with the mixtape 1, 2 and 3. The label, WhyUS entertainment, still promotes harmony between the French and English music scenes, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a creative powerhouse. Its goal is to transcend genres, collaborating with artists across different musical backgrounds while putting Montreal’s talent first.

WhyUS's music today is the product of three artists, Jon Moniz, K-Why and Stevie, and their passion for blending past, present, and future styles. The group’s signature sound draws influences from boom bap to trap, from dance to country, and from pop to underground.

Their debut album, Sicilian Sauce, released in March 2025, signaled the beginning of a new era for the group as they look to expand their horizons and push the boundaries of their craft.

Jon Moniz

Jon Moniz is known for crafting infectious choruses and hooks, earning him the nickname 'Captain Hook, combining elements of pop, funk, and hip hop to create catchy and emotionally charged songs. With Portuguese and Italian roots, Jon grew up in multicultural neighborhoods near Montreal, where he developed his street-savvy style and deep appreciation for hip hop culture.

Eccentric, creative, and business-wise, Jon owns Groupe Delsol, a successful construction and snow removal company, showing his entrepreneurial mindset alongside his artistic pursuits.
